Most campsites need public liability insurance, in case a guest is hurt or their property is damaged. If you employ anyone, employers' liability insurance is a legal requirement. You may also want cover for your buildings and structures, your equipment, and the bookings you'd lose if you had to close.

Some providers here are brokers who find a policy for you. Others are insurers who write their own. A few specialise in glamping or single huts, and some farm insurers can add a campsite to the cover you already have.

Before you buy, ask:

  • Does the policy cover camping, touring and glamping, or only some of them?
  • How much public liability cover is included, and is that enough for your site?
  • Are activities such as fires, hot tubs or play areas covered, or excluded?
  • If you only open for part of the year, is the price based on that?

Tell your farm or home insurer before you open, as running a campsite can change your existing cover.
