Insights: tips, questions and events
Tips on busy dates and the weather, asking questions about your bookings, local events and the weekly email.
Updated
Insights turns your bookings, the weather and what’s coming up into tips on what to do next. You can also ask questions about your bookings in your own words. Open Reports in the menu and tap Tips and questions, or go to Insights.
Insights waits for your first booking. Until then the page asks you to add your pitches or share your booking link.
Overview
Pick a date range at the top (Last 30 days to start, or Today, Last 7 days, This month, Last month, This year or Custom range). You’ll see:
- Booked value, Bookings and Occupancy for those dates, compared with the same length of time before
- Next 7 days: the weather forecast for your campsite beside how booked each day is
- Direct bookings this season: how many came to you rather than through another site, as on Reports
- What to do next: tips, most urgent first
- charts and tables of Revenue, Occupancy, Extras and Forward (what’s booked for the weeks and months ahead), with Download for Excel for the figures on the tab you’re looking at
Tips in What to do next
New tips are worked out every morning, with a round-up of trends every Monday. They include things like:
- a sunny day coming with plenty of pitches free
- bad weather on a day tent guests arrive
- a weekend that’s only partly booked
- a bank holiday or event coming up
- booked value up or down on before
- a good rate of guests coming back
Tap the cross beside a tip to dismiss it. Tap Show all to see more.
Ask AI
On the Ask AI tab, type a question such as “Which pitch type is most popular?” or tap one of the suggestions. The answer comes from your own bookings. Your campsite can ask 20 questions a day, and the page shows how many are left. As with any AI answer, check anything important against your reports.
Events
The Events tab lists bank holidays and local events that could change how busy you are. Bank holidays are added for you. To add your own, such as a village fete, tap Add an event, fill in Event name, Starts and Ends (leave Ends empty for a one-day event), pick an Event type (such as Local area recommendation for something nearby or On-site event for something at your site), then tap Add event. Events you add are used in your tips. They stay as a note for your planning unless you tick Show on my website, which puts them in your website’s events list. You can’t remove bank holidays. For events guests can book tickets for, see Events.
Weekly email
The owner or a manager can switch the Weekly email on or off at the top of the page. It’s on to start, and goes to the account owner every Monday morning with last week’s bookings, the week’s weather and what’s coming up.
Good to know
- Bookings from other sites without a price aren’t in booked value, as PootlrHost doesn’t know what the guest paid.
- You can switch Insights off in Settings › Features. That hides Tips and questions and stops the weekly email. Reports and your accounting files stay.
