Guest reviews and Google reviews

How guests are asked for reviews, checking and publishing them, and asking for Google reviews too.

Updated

PootlrHost asks every guest for a review after their stay. Reviews wait for you to check, and only the ones you publish go on your website. You can also ask guests to review you on Google.

How guests are asked

  • The Thank you and review email, sent a day after they leave (you can change the timing in Automatic emails), has a link to leave a review.
  • Their stay page offers the same link once the stay is over.

Guests choose 1 to 5 stars and write a few words. They can review a stay up to 60 days after leaving, once per stay, and not for a cancelled stay or a no-show. The form tells them their review goes on your website with their first name and surname initial, such as “Jess C.”, once you’ve checked it.

Checking reviews

When a review comes in, you get an email, and it’s counted beside Reviews in the menu and under Needs you on Today.

  1. Go to Reviews. Reviews waiting for you come first.
  2. Read the review. You can see the guest’s full name, their stay and a link to the booking.
  3. Tap Publish to put it on your website, or Hide to keep it off.

Use the tabs (All, To check, On your website, Hidden) to see one kind at a time. To take a published review down, tap Hide from website. A hidden review can be published again later.

Asking for Google reviews too

  1. On Reviews, tap Google reviews, then Add link.
  2. Follow Finding your link: on a computer, sign in to the Google account that manages your campsite, search Google for its name, choose Read reviews, then Get more reviews, then Copy.
  3. Paste it into Your Google review link and tap Save.

Your Google link then goes in the email after the stay, on the stay page and on the thank-you page after a guest leaves a review. Every guest is offered it, whatever they thought of their stay: Google doesn’t allow asking only the happy ones. To stop, open the same sheet and tap Stop asking for Google reviews.

Reviews from elsewhere

To bring in reviews you already have on Google, Pitchup and other sites, tap Import reviews. To add a single review, or change your website’s reviews section, use the website editor. Reviews you add there go straight on your website.

Good to know

  • Only someone who can edit the website can see and check reviews. See Your team and what they can do.
  • If you switch off Guest reviews in Settings › Features, guests aren’t asked for reviews and the after-stay email becomes a plain thank-you. Reviews you added in the website editor stay on your website.
  • Reviews you imported can’t be edited, so they stay in the guest’s own words.
