Connecting Pitchup
Link Pitchup to PootlrHost so a pitch booked on one can’t be booked on the other.
Updated
Listed on Pitchup too? Connect it so a pitch booked there can’t be booked on your website, and the other way round.
Before you start
Switch on Other booking sites in Settings, under Features. It then appears in the menu.
Have your Pitchup API key ready if you have one. In Pitchup’s manager portal, open Me › My details: the key is at the bottom of the page. If you can’t see one, ask Pitchup, or link each pitch by its calendar link instead.
Add Pitchup
- Go to Other booking sites and tap Add a booking site.
- Choose Pitchup, paste your key (if you have one) under Pitchup API key, and tap Add Pitchup.
- Tap Link a pitch and link each of your pitches, as below.
With a Pitchup API key, Pitchup links by API; without one, by calendar link. The How syncing works box at the bottom of the page says which you’re using.
Linking by calendar link
Each pitch swaps calendar links with Pitchup, like the other booking sites:
- Tap Link a pitch, choose Your pitch, and tap Next.
- Find Pitchup’s calendar (iCal) link for that pitch, paste it under Calendar link from Pitchup, and tap Save.
- If Pitchup can read another calendar, give it PootlrHost’s link too, with Copy link.
PootlrHost reads Pitchup’s calendar every 15 minutes. Here, your API key lets you Copy my pitch types from Pitchup when setting up your pitches. See Calendar links for what a calendar can and can’t carry.
Linking by API key
If the page shows API next to Pitchup, tap Link a pitch, choose your pitch type (or Any pitch of a type) and the Pitchup pitch type it matches, then tap Link.
Pitchup then tells PootlrHost about new, changed and cancelled bookings within a couple of minutes, with the guest’s name, email and phone. We set up these notifications on your Pitchup account for you, and take them off if you remove Pitchup. When a booking or closure changes your availability, PootlrHost updates Pitchup straight away. It can’t open nights Pitchup has closed, though: open those in the Allocation tab of Pitchup’s manager portal.
What happens automatically
- Pitchup bookings hold the pitch on your website, booking widget and calendar, labelled Pitchup. Guests pay Pitchup, which handles any refund, and PootlrHost charges no fee on them.
- Prices aren’t shared either way. Set them on each.
- If two sites sell the same night, PootlrHost keeps both bookings, flags the clash under Needs you on Today and emails you.
Pausing and other controls
- Sync now checks straight away.
- Switch off pauses the connection: PootlrHost stops reading Pitchup and sending it changes until you Switch on again. Pitchup can still read PootlrHost’s calendar link if you gave it one.
- Change key replaces your API key.
- Remove takes Pitchup off. Upcoming bookings its calendar links brought in stop holding your pitches.
Good to know
- Pitchup bookings are cancelled on Pitchup, not in PootlrHost. Cancel it there and PootlrHost follows.
- Their dates and pitch type are changed on Pitchup too, and PootlrHost follows. With an API key, so are the guest’s name, email and phone. You can move a Pitchup guest to another pitch of the same type on the calendar.
- To email and text Pitchup guests too, turn on Email and text guests who booked on other sites. It’s off to start, and only reaches guests whose email or phone came across, which needs the API key.
- Pitchup sync, with the setup steps and fixes for common problems, is also on our Pitchup page.
