Setting up your site

Go through the setup steps, from your site’s name and pitches to choosing a plan and going live.

Updated

When you sign up, a short setup takes you from a new account to a website guests can book on. It saves after each step, so you can stop at any point and carry on later.

The steps

  1. Your site. Type your Site name, then find your Site address by typing your site name or postcode (or tap Enter it yourself). Choose What kind of site is it?: CL or CS, Small touring park, Glamping, or Pop-up or seasonal. Your booking page address is made from your site name. If it’s already taken, we add a number.
  2. Pitches. Tap the pitch types you offer, then set how many you have and the price a night. We suggest some to start with, based on the kind of site you chose. For anything else, tap + Add another pitch type, like a shepherd’s hut or bell tent. You need at least one.
  3. Features. Under What do you want to use?, switch on the parts you need and leave the rest off. Bookings, your calendar, guests, your website, messages and payments are always there.
  4. Plan. Choose how you pay PootlrHost and add the card for it. With Pay As You Go you can tap Add my card later, but you’ll need a card before you go live. See Your PootlrHost plan.
  5. Go live. Check everything on Ready to go live? and tap Edit beside anything that needs changing. Then choose Go live now, or Set things up first to keep your website private while you add more from your dashboard.

Starting from your current website

On the first step there’s an optional box, Got a website already? Paste its address and tick It’s my website, and I can use its words and photos. We read it while you carry on, looking for your pitches and prices, words, photos, logo and guests’ reviews. On the next step you can tap Use these to start from the pitch types we found, then check the numbers and prices. If we can’t read it, choose your pitches yourself and bring its words and photos over later from Website.

After setup

Your dashboard opens on Today, with a list headed Get your site ready (or Finish setting up once you’re live). It shows what’s left, like adding photos, your contact details, a cancellation policy and how guests pay. Each item ticks itself off once it’s done. Optional extras, such as inviting your team, can be marked Not needed.
