Hipcamp sync: Keep Hipcamp. Take bookings direct as well.
Link each pitch to its Hipcamp listing by calendar link. Hipcamp bookings come into your calendar, and Hipcamp sees the nights you’ve sold elsewhere. Cool Camping listings link the same way.
How it works with Hipcamp.
Set up pitch by pitch on Other booking sites in your dashboard. Nothing changes for your guests.
Linked by calendar link
Hipcamp shares a calendar (iCal) link for a listing. Paste it into PootlrHost against the pitch, and give Hipcamp the PootlrHost link for that pitch.
How often
PootlrHost reads Hipcamp’s calendar every 15 minutes, or when you press Sync now. Hipcamp reads PootlrHost’s on its own schedule, often every few hours.
What comes in
The dates, and whatever name or reference Hipcamp puts in its calendar. Guest details stay in Hipcamp: add anything you need to the booking yourself.
Clashes flagged
Calendars don’t update instantly, so two sites can now and then sell the same night. If that happens, PootlrHost keeps both bookings, flags the clash on Today and emails you.
Your prices stay yours
Prices aren’t shared. Set them on Hipcamp as you do now.
Nothing private goes out
The calendar PootlrHost gives Hipcamp marks taken nights as Booked or Unavailable, with no guest names.
Setting up Hipcamp.
Once for each listing. Nothing about your listing on Hipcamp changes.
Switch it on
In Settings, under Features, switch on Other booking sites. Then open Other booking sites and choose Add a booking site, then Hipcamp.
Link a pitch
Choose the pitch a Hipcamp unit is for. If one unit sells several identical pitches, choose “Any” for that pitch type: it closes on Hipcamp when they’re all taken.
Give Hipcamp your calendar
Copy PootlrHost’s calendar link for that pitch. On a computer, open your Hipcamp calendar, choose Options, then Sync external calendars, and paste it into the import link box for the unit. Save.
Bring Hipcamp’s bookings in
Copy Hipcamp’s export link for the same unit and paste it into PootlrHost as the calendar link from Hipcamp. Save, and PootlrHost reads it straight away and tells you how many bookings came in.
If something isn’t right.
What you might see, and what to do about it.
- A Hipcamp booking isn’t in my calendar yet
- PootlrHost reads Hipcamp’s calendar every 15 minutes. Press Sync now to read it straight away.
- Hipcamp still shows nights I’ve sold
- Hipcamp reads PootlrHost’s calendar on its own schedule, often every few hours, and Sync now can’t hurry it. Check the PootlrHost link is in the import box of the right unit.
- It says the link doesn’t lead to a calendar
- You’ve copied the unit’s web page. Copy Hipcamp’s calendar export link instead: it starts with https:// and often ends in .ics.
- It says the calendar doesn’t exist, or won’t let PootlrHost read it
- The link has changed on Hipcamp’s side. Copy a fresh export link from Hipcamp and paste it in with Change.
- Today shows a possible double booking
- Two sites sold the same night before their calendars caught up. PootlrHost has kept both bookings and emailed you: move one guest to another pitch, or cancel one booking on the site it came from.
- A booking just says “Hipcamp guest”
- Hipcamp’s calendar shares the dates, and sometimes a name, but not contact details. They stay in Hipcamp: add what you need to the booking yourself.
