Pitches and pitch types

Set up pitch types and their numbered pitches: capacity, what each takes, photos, and closing a pitch for repairs.

Updated

A pitch type is a kind of stay with one price, like “Grass with hook-up” or “Bell tent”. Its numbered pitches (H1, H2, H3…) are the actual places guests stay, and they’re the rows on your calendar.

Add a pitch type

  1. Go to Pitches & pricing › Pitches and tap Add a pitch type.
  2. Give it a name, say how many of them you have, and enter its normal price per night.
  3. Choose What’s underfoot? and Electric hook-up?, then tap Add pitch type.

Its pitches are made and named for you: “Hardstanding” gives H1, H2 and so on, and a lodge you only have one of takes the type’s own name. If another type already uses the letter, it takes two letters from the name instead, like HP1 for “Hilltop Pod”, so no two pitches share a name. To bring pitches in from a spreadsheet or Pitchup instead, tap Import from a spreadsheet or Pitchup.

Change a pitch type

Tap Edit type on its row. Changes save as you make them.

  • The basics: name, price a night, What it is (a pitch, bell tent, pod, hut, cabin, lodge, an area to themselves or something else) and What’s underfoot.
  • Who can stay on each pitch: adults, children, dogs and vehicles. Children can use spare adult places too, so 4 adults and 2 children means it sleeps 6, with no more than 4 adults. Guests see “Sleeps 6, up to 4 adults” and can’t book a group that won’t fit.
  • Hook-up, arriving and leaving: arrival and leaving times if this type is different from the rest of your site, and Same-day turnover.
  • What it takes (pitches only): tick tents, caravans, motorhomes and so on, and the longest it takes, from 2 to 25 metres including the awning. Leave them all unticked if it takes anything.

For the summary, amenities, per-person prices and the number of pitches, tap Description, guest guide and smart pricing, then Edit details at the top of that page.

Photos

On the pitch type’s page, open Photos & words and tap Add photos. You can add up to 12 (JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 5 MB each). The first photo leads on your website and in the booking window. Describe each one for people who can’t see it. With no photos, your website shows a simple drawing.

Individual pitches

Tap a pitch, like H1, to rename it, add a note only your team sees (“Slopes a little”), see who’s coming up, or switch off Open for bookings to close it for repairs. Bookings already on it stay, and you’re told who they are first. Tap + to add another pitch to a type. It follows on from the last one (H3 after H2), and a second “Granary Lodge” is called “Granary Lodge 2”.

What guests see

Guests see each pitch type with its photos, price and who it sleeps. When any of your pitch types says what it takes, the booking window asks “What are you bringing?”. Answering is optional, but guests can’t book a pitch type their outfit won’t fit.

When every pitch type is a pitch or an area to themselves, your website, booking window and guest emails say “Book a pitch” and “Choose your pitch”. On a glamping site, or one that also has bell tents, pods, huts, cabins or lodges, they say “Book your stay” and “Choose where you’ll stay” instead. Your dashboard still says pitches.

Good to know

  • Lowering the number of pitches closes the highest-numbered ones. They aren’t deleted, and raising the number again reopens them.
  • A pitch type with any bookings, even past or cancelled ones, can’t be deleted. Close its pitches instead.
  • Deleting a pitch type switches off any extra that was only for it. See Extras.
